FAQ

Common digital receipt questions.

General answers about receipt delivery, storage, proof of purchase, links and privacy.

Is an order confirmation the same as a receipt?

Not always. An order confirmation shows that an order was accepted. The final receipt or invoice may change after payment capture, fulfilment, substitutions, taxes, shipping, credits or refunds.

Can a digital receipt prove a purchase?

It can be useful evidence, especially when it includes the merchant, date, total and transaction reference. A merchant, warranty provider, tax authority or other organization may ask for additional records or apply its own rules.

Why did a receipt go to the wrong email address?

Possible causes include a checkout typo, outdated account details, a recycled phone number, a shared profile or incorrect card-linked routing. Ask the merchant to correct the record after verifying that the message is genuine.

Are SMS receipts less secure than email receipts?

Neither channel is automatically safer in every situation. Account security, device access, link handling, provider design and whether the message is genuine matter more than the label alone.

Can a hosted receipt link expire?

Yes. Access can depend on the merchant, provider, account or retention settings. Download important receipts in a durable format.

Does choosing a paper receipt prevent data collection?

Not necessarily. The sale still creates a transaction record, and an account, loyalty program or payment service may remain linked to it.

Should I keep every digital receipt forever?

Usually not. Keep records according to their practical purpose and any applicable legal, tax, accounting, warranty or business requirements. Obtain qualified advice for formal retention decisions.

Can a screenshot replace the original digital receipt?

A screenshot preserves what was displayed, but it may omit links, metadata, later adjustments or complete transaction details. Save a PDF or account export when a more durable record is needed.

Does this site store receipts?

No. The site provides educational information and simple browser-based tools. It does not offer receipt accounts, uploads or backups.
